Hi, I’m Deb and Holywell Hypnotherapy is my practice based in Holywell Village, Northumberland. I am a fully qualified, registered Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, and I practise specifically in Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy.
SFH is a ‘talking therapy’ and uses a combination of psychotherapy and trance work. It is neuroscience-based, research-led, and clinically proven. As the name suggests, solution-focused hypnotherapy concerns working towards a preferred future, and a more positive, productive frame of mind.

Firstly, there is a complimentary, no obligation, initial consultation, where we discuss your needs or goals and what you hope to achieve by the end of our sessions. Other information is gathered, including any other concerns, and sleep quality, amongst others.
An explanation of the brain and the workings of the mind is then presented, with reference to your concerns and how you can be affected. After the initial consultation, you can then decide whether to proceed with SFH sessions.
Sessions begin with the ‘talking’ part of the therapy, adopting elements of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).
The trance part of the session is conducted using Eriksonian Hypnosis. This form of hypnosis uses indirect suggestions, storytelling, and metaphors to access and engage the subconscious mind. Clients experience this form of hypnosis as a more natural process of learning and adapting, at their own pace and in the direction where they feel it is needed.

By using both psychotherapy and trance work, I help guide clients from negative, unwanted thoughts and behaviours towards a more beneficial mindset using their inner skills and resources. This can lead to clients feeling more in control and better able to cope and manage their lives.
SFH encourages the client to move forward and embrace positive changes. Clients who are ‘stuck’ or who no longer feel as though they recognise the person they have become, for example, are inspired to direct their energy towards what is possible, finding opportunities or solutions unique to their individual needs.
SFH adopts a respectful, collaborative approach with the client. Although it is recommended that 6 to 12 sessions are required (as SFH is a short-term therapy), this is only a suggestion. SFH sessions are always client-centred, and they are recognised as the expert in their life and what they need to achieve. How many sessions the client has depends very much on the individual and determined by how they feel they are progressing. Even the smallest of changes can be transformative!
